The Peer Support Programme at Ashburton College is a student-led initiative designed to help new students transition into the school community. Senior students are trained to provide guidance, encouragement, and a friendly face to Year 9 students as they adjust to the academic and social challenges of high school life.
The programme promotes positive relationships, fosters inclusivity, and encourages a sense of belonging, creating a supportive environment where students can ask questions and seek advice from peers. Through activities, including the likes of group discussions and team-building exercises, the Peer Support Programme helps to build leadership skills among senior students while also easing the adjustment for newcomers. This initiative strengthens the school’s culture and reinforces the AshColl Values.
