Student Leadership

At Ashburton College, we seek to develop the leadership skills and potential of our students. We create as many opportunities as possible for students to experience leadership in various forms, starting from Year 9. It is important to us that our leaders represent our diverse college, and it is vital that all students have the opportunity to lead in some way.

Our main formal leadership opportunity is our Prefects.

Prefects

The Prefects are a group of elected students who represent the school. They organise many school events, represent the school at various occasions, run assemblies, volunteer their time, run charity events and address and discuss important ideas that have been put forward to them from the student body. Each of the Prefects have an area of responsibility and a committee that they are responsible for.

The main aim of the Prefects is to make sure that every voice is heard within the school and to make sure that everyone’s needs are catered for.
