Year 9 boys cricket
Ashcoll year 9 boys fought gallantly against Methven boys on Saturday at the Ashburton domain. Ashburton fielded a team entirely consisting of new year nine students against a more experienced Methven team.
Methven batted first on a blisteringly hot day and were restricted to 136 before being bowled out in the 26th over. Ashcoll began their reply in a confident manner putting on 24 runs before losing their first wicket. However, some excellent bowling by the more experienced Methven attack saw a steady stream of wickets fall and restricted the flow of runs.
The Ashcoll boys battled bravely and managed to get within 14 runs of their target before being eventually bowled out with one ball of the innings remaining.
Cricket practice for all juniors is held every Thursday at the Pavilion between 4pm and 6pm. We would love to see any boys who are interested in playing cricket. We have a year 9/10 team and a combined team of juniors and seniors (Second and first eleven)
